How to use extration Metod

Laboratorium PMKS
Equipment :*
1. Extraction mantle complete.
2. Bottom flash 250 ml
3. Analytical balance
4. Ovens
5. Ceramic cup
6. Extraction thimble
*Material :*
1. Sample to be analyzed
2. N Hexan / ISO Hexan
3. Cotton
Step 2 analysis:
1. Weigh the empty cup
2. Weigh the cup + wet sample
3. Put in the oven
After getting out of the oven (to cool)
4. Weigh again the weight of the cup + dry sample
5. The dry sample is transferred to the extraction thimble and covered with cotton.
6. Weigh the empty bottom flask
7. The sample that has been copied in the extraction thimble is inserted into the soxlet.
8. Put N Hexan / ISO Hexan into the soxlet (no more than 250 ml according to
the capacity of the bottom flask)
9. Carry out the extraction on the extraction mantle with a fixed temperature. (don't forget to turn on the water that
passes through the extraction condenser).
10. After the extraction is complete, put the bottom flask + oil into the oven
11. After the bottom flask + oil is cold (after coming out of the oven) weigh the bottom flask + oil
_extraction treatment until N Hexan / ISO hexan is clear._

Calculation:
1. Wet sample weight = (cup + sample weight) - empty cup weight
2. Dry sample weight = (cup weight + sample after oven) - empty cup weight
3. The weight of water in the sample = the weight of the wet sample - the weight of the dry sample
4. Weight of oil = (weight of bottom flask + oil after leaving oven) - weight of empty bottom flask.
Calculating percent ( %)
1. % of water in the sample = weight of water / weight of wet sample x 100
2. % Nos (dirt) = 100 - (weight of water in sample + weight of oil) / weight of wet sample x 100
3. % OLWB = weight of oil / weight of wet sample x 100
4. % DB (dry matter) = % nos (impurities) + % OLWB
5. %OLDB = %OLWB / %DB x 100
6. %OL.NoS = %OLWB / %Nos x 100

Thank you.....
